Marion County High School students consistently score above system and state levels on the Alabama Reading and Math Test, the SAT-10, and the Alabama Writing Assessment. The school also has the highest graduation rate in the Marion County School System.
Marion County High School has become one of the first schools in the state to receive the ACCESS Distance Learning Program. It is the only one in the county. ACCESS provides instruction to students that is not available on site but can receive through Web-based and Interactive Videoconferencing by Alabama certified and highly qualified teachers. It offers more than 50 different courses to choose from such as Latin, Creative Writing, AP Calculus, AP U.S. History, AP Biology, Spanish, Physics, AP Calculus, and AP English. Marion County High School offers honors classes for those students wishing to obtain the Advanced Diploma. Senior honors students take Advanced Placement English for college credit. Past graduates have been admitted to honors programs at major state universities.
The Marion County School System offers career-technical programs, advanced placement courses and a dual enrollment program with Bevill State Community College. It also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) for all incoming non-English speaking students for the high school and elementary school.
Marion County High School is also home to the only Public/School library in the state. The library is the only one in the state that combines both public and private money for funding. Our Librarians feel that the library has a huge impact on our school and community. The teachers, students, and public are fortunate to have a library of this size and capacity.
Athletics are an important part of life in Guin. Marion County High School is the home of the Red Raiders. Sports offered at MCHS are football, basketball, volleyball, track, golf, softball, baseball and cheerleading. The athletic program has excelled in all areas for many years. They have won State Championships in football, been to the elite 8 in volleyball and are three times defending state champions and hold one national title in cheerleading.
